Cattaraugus County Republican Chairman Mark Heberling announces that the Cattaraugus County Republican Committee held its Executive Committee Meeting on the evening Wednesday, February 28th in Ellicottville, NY. At the meeting, the committee made the following candidate endorsements.
United States Senate
Mike Sapraicone
Heberling stated “Mike Sapraicone is a decorated 20-year police office and a successful business leader, Mike provides the real-world knowledge that we need in Washington, to fix the damage that Joe Biden and the Democrats have done to our country. Mike understands that New York needs a strong voice in the Senate, an advocate who will respect and advocate on behalf of the communities and counties at a time of enormous challenge. We endorse Mike Sapraicone for United States Senate, Mike has what it takes to get the job done for New York and the United States.”
Mike Sapraicone stated “Cattaraugus County Republicans have had tremendous success because of their commitment to strong conservative principles. I look forward to partnering together to build upon that record and defeat Kirsten Gillibrand this November.”
US Congress 23rd District
Congressman Nick Langworthy
Heberling noted “In his first year in office, Congressman Langworthy has shown that he is the strong, conservative leader we need in Washington. He’s proven he will always do what is best for the district and the people of this community know he is standing up for us. The men and women of the Cattaraugus GOP are proud to support him for re-election as our Congressman.”

George Borrello
Heberling stated” We are pleased to endorse Senator George Borrello who has been a tireless advocate for our region and our way of life here in Western NY. He continues to fight against the New York City radicals and the Governor who is determined to ruin our state. He prioritizes standing up against so called bail reform, out of touch energy policies, burdens on our family-owned farms and being overrun by those pouring across our border, due to our sanctuary state status. He has even taken his fight to the courts to stop the Governor’s overreach for things like isolation and quarantine camps and ammo purchases. We know that he will continue to show up, hear our voices and take that fight to Albany. We all see him at events and visiting small businesses across the district. Joe Sempolinski
Heberling noted: “The Cattaraugus County Republican Committee is proud to endorse Joe Sempolinski for State Assembly. He has the experience to hit the ground running and serve the people of Cattaraugus County. He knows our region and our values. I know he will vote as a true conservative, be accessible to the people and work well with our local elected officials. State Supreme Court
Justice Deborah Chimes.
Heberling stated: “The Cattaraugus County Republican Committee is proud to endorse Justice Chimes who has been serving as State Supreme Court Justice for eleven years and is a proven jurist. Early in her career, she has the distinction of being the first woman Town Court Justice in Orchard Park. Justice Chimes has been admitted to the bar for thirty-four years and has the experience the court needs.”

Matt Keller
Heberling noted: “Matt Keller is an MBA graduate from St. Bonaventure College in Finance and Accounting and along with his prior experience of serving as Deputy Treasurer has proven that he has what it takes to get the job done. Under his leadership, the County has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Finance Reporting from GFOA, the Government Finance Officers Association every year during his tenure. Only one other small county in New York State has received this award. Additionally, Matt is proud to report that the County has had a surplus and an overall fund balance growth since taking office in 2021.
Cattaraugus County Coroner
Bradley Spink
Heberling stated: “We will be supporting Bradley Spink for Coroner. Bradley has 33 years of experience and has investigated over 2500 deaths. During his career, he has sat on numerous Cattaraugus County medical advisory boards and has coordinated communications between the County and Olean General Hospital, allowing autopsies to continue and as a result he has saved our County tens of thousands of dollars.”

The Cattaraugus County Republican Committee is also endorsing Alderman incumbents Lawrence “JR” Bennion in “Ward 1” and Jennifer Forney for “Ward 3”. They have a proven track record.
